TRC-570/571 DIGITAL VEHICULAR MILITARY RADIO TRANS/RECEIVER . Probably the most advanced radio to emerge from Desert Storm is the TRC-570/571. It is a fully modern set using fairly current technology. Originally designed and built by Thomson-CSF, it entered production in 1979 for use by French overseas armed forces.

Primarily designed for vehicular operation, the TRC-570/571 is far more advanced that it's U.S. counterpart, the VRC-12 series ( by 1990, nearly 30 years old ).
Features include compact size and heavy duty construction. Modular design using LSI and Hybrid circuits. Digital frequency / channel display with keypad entry of frequency and modes with up to 9 pre-settable channels. 25 or 50 kc channel spacing , with 150cps tone or carrier squelch, 5 or 10kc deviation on FM. X mode compatibility for secure equipment, digital ciphering and data, or TTY via external accessories. Ancillary equipment to allow it's use as a vehicular or fixed station with power derived from 12VDC, or AC mains. And a minimum of controls for simplified operation.

Ops 26-76mc in 25 or 50kc steps, FM. RF power output is 30 watts High or 2 watts Low, from a 24VDC power source with a drain of 6 amps Transmit, 600ma Receive (external equipment will allow 12VDC, or AC mains operation)
