In this fact-based account, Civil rights activist Lori Jackson (Lynn Whitfield), who has no formal legal training, takes on the case of African-American Marine Corporal Lindsay Scott (Richard Yearwood), who is charged with and convicted of the rape of another Marine's wife, a white woman, despite lack of evidence. Jackson refused to give up and garnered national attention by using the media to force the courts to re-examine the case.
