- This upgrade version 1.2 is the latest
update released by Kawai for the K5m.
- Included will be 1 new ATMEL ROM chip,
recently manufactured to ensure data integrity well past our natural
lifetime.
- I do not use old 35+ year
old UV EPROMS that are prone to bit rot, a major cause of data instability
with vintage equipment of this era.
Please
keep in mind that the K5m itself is not for sale, only the EPROM upgrade is.
Unlike some others, No used or refurbished as “new”
components will be supplied here.
- Note – The 1.2 upgrade for
the K5m is not compatible with the regular K5 keyboard version. If you
happen to need the upgrade for the K5, send me a message and I’ll help you
out. Or simply look at my other eBay listing as I have it listed as well.
Be sure
to take note of the marked orientation notch on the side of the EPROM to ensure
correct installation. EPROMS inserted backwards will be destroyed. Incorrect
insertion of ICs is also likely to cause damage to the board.
All EPROM
upgrades have been prepared in an ESD-safe production environment and will be
packaged in equally ESD-safe materials.
