Thru years, 1943 ~ 1947, Sylvia Fein, an American Artist, while painting and living in Mexico, collected the artwork produced by this well -known listed artist, BENITO DIAZ, unbeknownst to her of his future popularity and the worth of his talent.

His media is watercolor on Amate, also referred to as Fig Tree Paper. His images of his town and the townspeople in various activities are in bright and vibrant colours.

Sylvia Fein donated his collected works that now hang in the Smithsonian National Native American Museum of Natural History in New York city.
