Gelatine in capsules is the same ingredient as in desert jelly (before you add the hot water) - Pure natural gelatine. Its one of the first things you can choose in hospital after an operation as gelatin is healthy, quickly digestible and good for everyone. There is really no health benefit for choosing Veggie capsules over gelatine unless you are Vegetarian or Vegan - in that case choose Veggie Caps.

If Possible capsules should be stored in a cool (15 to 26 degrees C.), dry place (Humidity 45% and 60%), although they can tolerate a wider range of temperatures. If are allowed absorb to much moisture any capsules will expand and can be difficult to insert in capsule machines.
Nominal expiration date of the capsules is five years.

SIZE NOTE: Capsules you buy in a Pharmacy or Health Food Store are typically #1, 0 or 00 at the largest.
Size 000 is quite a bit larger and Size 4 is about 1/2 size 1, that may help in choosing.

Safety Information
Do not fill capsules with any liquid suspension because it will dissolve prior to consumption. Keep out of direct sunlight, hot water and high temperatures. Capsule content depends on the density, concentration and the amount of the powder filled.
Note: You can fill capsules with some kinds of oils -- walnut, olive, garlic, mega-3, grape-seed or any oil as long as there is absolutely no water in it.
Using a Filler (excipient) to fit a exact amount of active ingredient in each capsule evenly.
All capsules you buy in the health food store or Pharmacy use inert fillers (excipients) to achieve this - Just pick up a bottle and read the label and you will see many other ingredients in the list other than the active ingredient like Magnesium stearate, starches, cellulose, titanium dioxide, sucrose (sugar) etc.
The Example below is with a 24 capsule at a time machine. It assumes your capsules are at least slightly larger than needed for your active ingredient, Refer to the attached picture "Capsule size data chart" to see what size capsules you need as powders can be different weights per volume.
- Put 24x the amount of the active ingredient you want in into the body of the empty capsules in the machine - it may only fill a few capsules half way - that's OK the first time is just to measure. e.g. if you wanted 100mg in each capsule you would put in 24 x 100mg = 2.4g into the capsules.
- Add your filler until all the capsules are evenly full. (I know its not even yet you are just measuring) A filler - it can be anything edible e,g, cornflour, flour, fiber powder, sugar or something that goes with your product. The small amount used in each capsule of these wont make any difference to your diet.
- Tip everything out on to scales and measure the weight - let's say it was 13g total (Filler + Active Ingredient). As you put in 2.4g product you now know there was 10.6g filler. (13g-2.4g = 10.6g)
- Now to easily fill 24 capsules each time, mix 2.4g your active ingredient and 10.6g filler and it will evenly fill all the capsules every time, with 100mg of your active ingredient in each capsule. Easy!
