In the year 1700, M. Herbin created The "Jewel of Inks" in his little shop on the Rue des Fosses Saint-Germain in Paris. The J. Herbin brand is therefore the oldest name in fine pen inks in the world. J. Herbin inks are pH Neutral and are comprised of All Natural dyes in their fountain pen inks. This natural composition and delicate balance of ingredients is the essence of any fine ink.
It is said J. Herbin was fond of dried carob pods as a healthy food during his voyages. As with other merchants, he traded or purchased them in Cyprus. Carob trees have been cultivated in Mediterranean countries since ancient times. Carob pods were known for their therapeutic properties and were marketed throughout Europe as the "black gold of Cyprus".
2016's J. Herbin anniversary ink is called "Caroube de Chypre" (Cyprus Carob) because of its deep brown color. Caroube de Chypre is a dark brown ink with light red reflections and sparkling gold effect.
J. Herbin fountain pen inks are great for most writing instruments and are inspired by the rich, adventurous travels of J. Herbin who during the 17th century was a French sailor that brought formulas for sealing wax and ink back to Paris. The "1670" ink collection celebrates the 340th anniversary of J. Herbin. Each bottle of "1670" Anniversary Ink is exquisitely presented in a glass bottle that has been sealed in hand-dipped wax and contains 50ml of rich color that is infused with gold or silver flecks.
The design on the box represents the life of J. Herbin a sailor. The ship anchor and palm tree represent navigation and discovery. The crown is a reference to the red sealing wax color used in the royal courts of Europe.

To qualify for a refund, the item must be in the exact same, brand-new condition it was received, including the original packaging, plus any accessories, parts, and paperwork that came with the item. We cannot accept opened and used bottles of ink, ink cartridges, used notebooks, engraved pens or pen cleaning supplies. When you receive any new fountain pen, we recommend to inspect it thoroughly and if necessary, lightly dip the nib tip in washable ink to test it. Any pens that have been fully inked and used will incur a 15% restocking fee for preferential returns. Approval of all returns is subject to the discretion of Goldspot Pens, who reserves the right to decline refund requests if the product has been improperly used, damaged, modified or is otherwise unable to be resold.
