Traditional suits of Baton, Deniers, Coupe, & Epee;
"B.P. Grimaud Paris" copyright written on all of the courts & all of the Trumps except Arcanum XII, XVI, XVIII;
Copyright of manufacturer is written sometimes on one side & sometimes on the other;
Arcanum titles written in French;
The original plates for this Tarot were likely bought by the House of Grimaud with its takeover of the company of the Parisian cartier Lequart;
Precursor to the highly acclaimed 1930 Ancien Tarot de Marseille of Paul Marteau, with the Besancon use of Jupiter & Juno instead of the Marseilles styled Pope and Popess of Catholicism;
Two of Coins shows name of Arnoult signed with the year 1748 in its ribbon, as also found on the Lequart Tarot of the late 19th century;
Shield of the 4 of Coins as well as the 2 of Cups bears a crest with three fleurs-de-lis for its emblem;
Republique Francais tax-stamp, dated 12-Avril-1890, stamped with blue ink on Ace of coins;
Arabic numbering system of the Major Arcanum is based on addition rather than subtraction (ie. 9=VIIII);
Corners are rounded and card reverses are a monochromatic brown;
Printed on very sturdy paste-board cardstock;
card measurements: 119 mm X 62 mm

Condition: used antique condition; complete set of 78 well-aged cards, all cards showing signs of patina and wear from surface scuffing, with signs of soiling & age darkening, as well as minor creases and several minor stains; slight damage at top edge of 7 d'epee, otherwise without any major damages.
