Roland TR-909 OS 4.0 EPROM Firmware Upgrade KIT [Midi Timing Fix]

  • Firmware OS v4.0 is the latest operating system issued by Roland for the TR-909
  • Included will be brand new EPROM chip, which will be labeled accordingly to indicate which IC socket the EPROM is to be installed.
  • This firmware works to resolve the TR-909’s lagging sequencer and sync loss when playing internal patterns or while slaved to an incoming MIDI clock.

The Roland TR-909 itself is not for sale, only the EPROM upgrade chip will be supplied.

  • Roland had cut costs by not including removable EPROM sockets with the TR-909 and so will require you to desolder the existing EPROM at socket IC 609 of the switch board. Please let me know if you are in need of a spare DIP28 socket, I have a few extra ones I can share one with you at no additional cost.
  • While this is generally a simple procedure to those with moderate experience with solder re-work equipment, I do not suggest you make your first time attempt at soldering with a TR-909: Find someone that has experience with electronics repair to do this and rest easy.

If requested - A link will be e-mailed to you with the TR-909 service manual for your own personal reference. I find this to be quite useful and informative

Be sure to take note of the marked orientation notch on the side of the EPROM to ensure correct installation. EPROMS inserted backwards will be destroyed. Incorrect insertion of ICs is also likely to cause damage to the board.

All EPROM upgrades have been prepared in an ESD-safe production environment and will be packaged in equally ESD-safe materials.

Purchase with confidence!
