To your attention is an antique lady's handbag, made and sold in the Austro-Hungarian Empire in the mid. 19-th Century.
The fabric is made of silk threads and cotton linen. On the front side a fine embroidery depicts a romantic scenery of a man and a woman, flirting, in court gardens, with swans in a lake. The scenery conveys poetry inspired by the idyllic romanticism of the 18-th Century.
The handbag frame and chain are made of Brass. The frontal Brass plate has been finely worked to a patterned surface. There are three large Mother of Pearls stones embedded in the frame, as well as three Large red Rubis and two green Tourmaline stones. One of the smaller Rubis is missing (there were four, originally).
The fabric inside the bag is torn at places and around the hinges of the metal frame. There are cracks on two
Mother of Pearl stones. Overall wearing on the fabric on the backside of the handbag. The bag is quite old, with expected wearing due time.
