"Trench Art" refers to various artisan objects made by soldiers during wartime, specifically during the two
world wars.

The trench art we present here is from the period of WW 2, made sometime between 1940-1945.
It is a desktop ashtray with gas lighter tower in the center.
It is made of vehicle parts, all chromed, machined and caringly soldered together.
The lighter is manual-type. The flint wheel sparks the wick, which is then extinguished by placing the lid ontop.
The tank is filled with gas via a small, screw-type lidded, hole next to the flint wheel.
The tank-filling is similar to the "zippo" lighters, where a thick cotton interior is saturated with gas.

The object is quite massive. Will do well as a solid paperweight for desktops as well.

The item has wearing, scratches and flaked coating in the ashtray part.
The flint wheel is stuck, probably can be repaired.

This WWII trench art gas lighter with ashtray could be repaired for use, howevere it is sold AS IS with no guarantees.

Historic memorabilia for collectors and museums.

Ashtray diameter: 130 mm / 5.11 inches
Lighter tower height and diameter: 90 x 34 mm / 3.54 x 1.33 inches
