Unusual 1970s Jules Racine/Gallet Diver Wristwatch w/ Tissot Quartz 2030 Movement

If you’re a collector of unusual dive watches or historical quartz movements, this one is for you.

First of all, this watch has a 2030 movement, which was used in the Tissot Seastar starting in 1977. It’s a very eccentric movement. To set the hours, you pull the crown out. To set the seconds and minutes, you push the crown in for five seconds, release, and press again (more information about this is readily available online). The watch runs and sets perfectly!

The watch is branded “Jules Racine.” Racine was a member of the Gallet family and they often traded merchandise. And weirdly, the case is signed “Buler” on the inside of the case.

So to say this least, this is kind of an odd watch. It doesn’t have the feel of one that’s been cobbled together from different parts: I think it’s a bonafide original piece (except for the strap, a vintage Hong Kong rubber number that I installed).

There are some cosmetic blemishes, as shown in the photos.

Pretty big watch: approximately 43mm x 38.6mm (not including crown). 18mm lugs.
