Very nice copy of Freylinghausen’s “witty-hymns” book: dated 1732, Halle. In good condition with some cracks to the spine and scuffing as well as loss to the corners and chipped edges. The paper is aged and discolored and there are a couple of plant based bookmarks which have not left markings but are still there. Some foxing and tidemarks. Great publisher’s flourishes at end of listing of Hymns by number, at head of beginning, at end of page 1041 and occasionally, tiny ones at the top of the page where there is no titling. Cracked at rear gutter (see photo). Original clasp hardware intact but actual clasp (the part that reaches across to join and close) is missing. Gorgeous endpapers with some discoloration and chipping. Looks hand-done in ribbon and stripe design with shaded globes in cream and peach. Please review photos: note that the title page (as shown) is not present. dating is based on the text from the bottom reverse of initial page shown. see photo six above. Fair Condition: 8vo (8”x5”): Full Leather with chips to the corners where the underlayment shows and the leather is missing; appears to be missing title page, endpapers, and one or more leaves in the rear; scuffed edges; cracked spine: darkened edges: reddish-peach endpaper  in stripes and ribbons with shaded globes; some soiling and missing bits: chipped pages at front; paper discoloration, foxing and tidemarks: “Geistreiches  Gesan-buch”: Johann Anastasius Freylinghausen: Halle, Germany: 1732.
