Samuel Solly was a surgeon and lecturer at the Royal College of Surgeons, among other achievements, and was elected a Fellow of the Royal Society in 1836 due to his works on the brain, including the publication of this book. Originally published in 1836 with twelve plates, this second edition replaced those plates with plentiful illustrations in-text.
