The first of the Palliser novels by Trollope, revolving around the exploits of Plantagenet Palliser and his gregarious wife, Glendora. Richly illustrated by Hablot Knight Browne (PHIZ), known for his illustrations of the novels of Charles Dickens. In good condition, there is fading to the boards with chipped corners and damage to the spine. Inside shows evidence of reading and slight discoloration of the papers due to age. Some foxing. Tissue overlay at front. Looks like a drop of ink at the bottom of the front spare and “Wm. Aug. Waters” has written his name on the free endpaper. There are pencil marks in the upper right corner of same. Occasional pencil marks and foxing throughout.
