Three volume set of Aeschylus’ writings for the classics scholar. An unusual set of the five tragedies of Aeschylus: they are dated sequentially with Volume I dated 1825, volume II, 1826, and Volume III with the date of 1827. They have been bound and the note to the binder is carefully tipped in. The endpapers are a shiny floral paper with a gilt-ish finish. These were bound to match and bound sturdily to be used as text books. Latin interpretation of Greek plays as text.  Inside the front on the endpapers, each is marked (in what appears to be marker of some sort) “Wilson”. On the front spare are pencil markings and what appears to be a library stamp of sorts to indicate placement within said library. There don’t seem to be any other library marks that I see. Binders did a nice job: all three books match nicely and have held up remarkably well. Ridged and banded spines with gilt lettering show a little bit of wear but generally, legible and intact with some scuffing to the hinges. Very Good Condition: 8vo, 3/4 turkey Morocco with marble boards, heavy floral gilt endpapers; pencil and stamp markings as described above inside spare page: ridged and banded spine with gilt outlines on each ridge and gilt lettering along with gilt outlining leather on front and back. “Aeschylus”.
