A fascinating book: blind stamped polished vellum: armorial centerpiece of Anna Maria Waltherin née Horningen. Aside from amazing content, this has so many great features: tinted edges, polished vellum, that stamp! Some little worming inside lower cover and back strips with a few small damp stains at front and back. Some margins slightly discolored. Library markings and names of previous owners on title page. Some foxing.
Contents of the book cover such topics as natural history and science as it was defined: the text examines nature cults, meteors, human diseases, natural religions, sun worship, and other medical and scientific wonders of the era. Careful examination reveals an overview of venereal diseases, cures for arthritis and other medical conundrums of the day. Written in Latin and Greek, the print is clear and easily read, allowing for ease of translation. Tons of annotations, a complete index.

Very Good: 4 to, vellum cover with blind stamp of Anna Maria Waltherin, née Horningen; edge outline on front and back; ridged spine with title in dark ink: “Vol se die Idololatriae/Liber III & IV”. Some damage at front hinge; worm hole at top of front board near hinge. Similar at back board near bottom. Foxing throughout with some pages more so than others. Blue tinted edges. Library markings: stamped “Loyola College/Baltimore MD” . De-accession marks inside front on spare page. Multiple names writing in ink on title page. Some separation at front hinge opposite title page. Decorated title page with woodcut along with various decorations at the end of some chapters. “De Theologia  Gentili et Physiologia Christiana sive origine ac progressu idololatriae ad veteran gesta, ac rerun naturam, reductae, deque naturea mirandis quibus homo adducitur ad Deum. Liber III, et IV.” Gerardo Ioannis Vossii. Amsterdam: Ioh. & Cornelius Blaew. 1642.
