He frequently names Steinlen (November 10, 1859 - December 13, 1923), was a French-born Art Nouveau painter and engraver. in the early 1890s, Steinlen's paintings of rural landscapes, flowers and nudes were shown in the independent room. His 1895 lithograph entitled Les Chanteurs des Rues was the frontispiece to a work entitled Chansons de Montmartre published by Éditions Flammarion with sixteen original lithographs illustrating the Belle Époque songs by Paul Delmet. His permanent home, Montmartre and its surroundings, was a favorite topic throughout Steinlen's life and he often painted scenes of some of the toughest aspects of life in the area. In addition to paintings and drawings, he also sculpture on a limited basis, highlighting figures of cats that had great affection for as seen in many of his paintings.

 Steinlen became a regular contributor to Le Rire and Gil Blas magazines and other publications such as Les Humouristes L'Assiette au Beurre, a short-lived magazine a dozen artists jointly founded in 1911. Between 1883 and 1920, he produced hundreds of illustrations , some of which were made under a pseudonym to avoid political problems due to their harsh criticism of social ills. -Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
