Nice copy of an early American zoological text for German youth in Pennsylvania written by John Adam Reubelt, a writer and educator concerned with the lack of “current” zoological and natural history information in German. He compiled this work based on German and English studies. Many interesting Woodcuts including various humans from around the world (some highly reflective of the era) as well as animals, insects, fish and so forth. In good condition, there is foxing, some occasions chipped pages as well as occasional dog eared pages. The front gutter has cracked and the front hinge is cracked almost the whole way down but still attached.
