NATIONAL ULUMNI, 1907, ILLUSTRATED DELUXE LIMITED RENAISSANCE ED (500 Subscriber copies with Alumni seal SIGNED by Rossiter Johnson, Chief Editor/Secretary SEE SCANS) 16 Volumes Complete. 

Thick heavy volumes with lovely b&w some hand painted colour illustrations, plates from paintings and etchings throughout including frontis plates, all with tissue guards, high quality laid deckle edge/uncut paper, top edge gilt. Faux leather bindings with intricate gilt front embossed and back stamped designs, all covers facsimiles of famous historic Italian bindings on exhibition in Treasures Of The Vatican, spines with gilt lettering and decorative motifs. Scholarly set

Internally handsome set each volume with a classic of Italian Literature, Tasso, Machiavelli. Orlando Furioso, The Flame/D'Annunzio, Manzoni, Cellini, Seraq, Alfieri, Castiglioni, Grossi, Dante, Carcano, Pellico ++ with lovely plates a number in color, scholarly introductions and fine printing.

CONDITION---- NOTE BEFORE BIDDING

INTERNALLY generally lovely clean, bright, supple, quality paper holding up, plates beautiful, light aging, very handsome NF. Bindings generally tight, solid. Some covers are a tad loose at the hinges but all volumes with tight binding

******NOTE-COVERS- ****SPINE CONDITION VERY POOR*** READ CAREFULLY BEFORE BIDDING. The SPINE backstrips are in VERY POOR/BAD CONDITION condition. The covers have intricate quite lovely embossed, gilt designs which are facsimiles of famous historical bindings in the Vatican (SCANS) All the covers are generally nice with normal ageing, scuffs, handling wear HOWEVER ALL of the SPINE strips are in VERY POOR condition, torn, chipped, missing pieces glued on coming away at edges, large pieces missing flaking, soiling etc (SEE SCANS)  all volumes are internally quite lovely.
