Google says $3,500.00 (original purchase price) in 1980 would be over $12,600.00 now due to inflation.

Up for sale is 'The Black' by Cindy Wolf number 3 of 12 , dated 1980 . This representation is of The Black with a Bedoiun handler on the dock (after being stolen) just before The Black strikes out , and the handler does not get up . This massive statue stands 22.25" OA height on a 16.25" diameter base (2.25" thick black marble) , The Black is 20.25" tall and the handler is 7.25" tall (all sizes +/- 0.10") . Weight is somewhere between 45 & 50 pounds as is , without box or packing . This will  be shipped in two boxes - one with the black marble base, the other with the bronze figures and 'rope'. See below for how it will be charged / refunded. The image from the Movie Book (copyright 1979 by Walter Farley through Random House) is shown , as is an image of both "Running Wild" (NOT included - already sold) & "The Black" on my desk .

Additional information : from spring 1981 thru January 2009 , I was part-owner and eventual full owner of WindMill Black Arabians , which , surprisingly , bred , raised , trained , and showed to the National level purebred black Arabian horses . Our bloodlines did include Cass Ole who portrayed The Black in the movies . In the spring of 1981 , my family took a vacation eastward , and among the places we stopped was the Kentucky Horse Park outside of Lexington . Inside the art gallery next to the gift shop they had 'The Black' number 3 of 12 by Cindy Wolf 1980 on display , I was told this one is the artist's proof . . . I fell in love with it and bought it before leaving . . . contacting Ms. Wolf , I found out she was going to do an un-named statue of Alec & The Black on the beach . . . I subscribed & paid ahead of the concept even being finalized . The statue was delivered to me sometime before June of 1983 ("Running Wild" has been sold) . I am unaware if Ms. Wolf did any more than these two issues regarding "The Black Stallion" .

Other artwork dealing with Arabian horses particularly 'The Black Stallion' by Karen Kasper "The Black Stallion - A Tribute to Walter Farley" original oil on canvas 1990 was SOLD on eBay .

Payment within 48 hours . Shipment will be made AFTER payment recorded at eBay by FedEx 2-3 day with insurance and signature required ($100.00 additional to shipping charge for shipment to Alaska or Hawaii) .

After shipment I will multiply the actual cost by 1.135 to get my cost plus eBay fees. I will refund the difference from the $175.00 collected. Easier to refund excess than to ask for more. IF more I will cry.

USA sales only , NO international sales as I am not an exporter ! To be blunt , I think 'The Black' is a superior piece as it has more detail and looks like an Arabian , 'Running Wild' is more minimalistic in detail and , other than the head , looks more like a thoroughbred or other breed (recently I discovered Ms. Wolf had shown American Saddlebreds) . IF you have the movie book , there is an image of Cass Ole as The Black dockside in a pose very close to this . Any questions ,
