In the movie by Illumination, Duke is an enormous and overbearing brown rescue mutt.  He has long hair, big legs and a leather collar.  Duke is sloppy and oafish.  He doesn't share his bed with Max, and eats from his bowl.  Reckless and inconsiderate at first, but is later to be shown to have a sympathetic background.
