PWM and MPPT charge controllers are both widely used to charge batteries with solar power. The PWM controller is in essence a switch that connects a solar array to the battery. The result is that the voltage of the array will be pulled down to near that of the battery. The MPPT controller is more sophisticated (and more expensive): it will adjust its input voltage to harvest the maximum power from the solar array and then transform this power to supply the varying voltage requirement of the battery plus load. Thus, it essentially decouples the array and battery voltages so that there can be, for example, a 12 volt battery on one side of the MPPT charge controller and panels wired in series to produce 36 volts on the other.

It is generally accepted that MPPT will outperform PWM in a cold to temperate climate, while both controllers will show approximately the same performance in a subtropical to tropical climate. Besides performing the function of a basic controller, an MPPT controller also includes a DC to DC voltage converter, converting the voltage of the array to that required by the batteries, with very little loss of power.

An MPPT controller attempts to harvest power from the array near its Maximum Power Point, whilst supplying the varying voltage requirements of the battery plus load. Thus, it essentially decouples the array and battery voltages, so that there can be a 12 volt battery on one side of the MPPT charge controller and two 12 Vpanels wired in series to produce 36 volts on the other. If connected to a PV array with a substantially higher nominal voltage than the battery voltage, an MPPT controller will therefore provide charge current even at very high cell temperatures or in low irradiance conditions when a PWM controller would not help much.

As array size increases, both cabling cross sectional area and cable length will increase. The option to wire more panels in series and thereby decrease current, is a compelling reason to install an MPPT controller as soon as the array power exceeds a few hundred Watts (12 V battery), or several 100 Watts (24 V or 48 V battery)

Ultra-fast Maximum Power Point Tracking (MPPT)- Especially in case of a clouded sky, when light intensity is changing continuously, an ultra-fast MPPT controller will improve energy harvest by up to 30% compared to PWM charge controllers and by up to 10% compared to slower MPPT controllers.

Load output- Over-discharge of the battery can be prevented by connecting all loads to the load output. The load output will disconnect the load when the battery has been discharged to a pre-set voltage (48V model: interface with a relay). Alternatively, an intelligent battery management algorithm can be chosen: see Battery Life. The load output is short circuit proof.

Battery Life: intelligent battery management- When a solar charge controller is not able to recharge the battery to its full capacity within one day, the result is often that the battery will continually be cycled between a ‘partially charged’ state and the ‘end of discharge’ state. This mode of operation (no regular full recharge) will destroy a lead-acid battery within weeks or months. The Battery Life algorithm will monitor the state of charge of the battery and, if needed, day by day slightly increase the load disconnect level (i.e. disconnect the load earlier) until the harvested solar energy is sufficient to recharge the battery to nearly the full 100%. From that point onwards the load disconnect level will be modulated so that a nearly 100% recharge is achieved about once every week.

TRACKING INFORMATION

To find the tracking number on eBay as a Member

Find the item in your Purchase history.
The tracking number will be displayed as a link. Open the link to see what stage your item has reached on its journey to you.
If you don’t see a tracking number for the item in your Purchase history, check if the item is marked as “sent”. If it is, Contact Us and we will upload the number, and advise progress.

How to track an item you bought as a Guest:

If you bought an item as a guest, you can still get the tracking details. You’ll need the order confirmation which eBay sent to the email address you entered at checkout.

Here’s how:

Find your order confirmation email. The subject line starts with “Guest Order”.
In the body of the email, select View order details.

You’ll then be able to view a delivery status bar with carrier information, the tracking number, and the item’s current location. If you don’t see the tracking info, you can Contact Us from the order details page.

Power Products Direct uses a number of couriers to ensure the delivery of your product/s is the fastest possible. You should receive a tracking update once PPD has approved and posted your order if not, you can head to eBay and review your orders to find more information. Click & Collect gives you more control over how you have your items delivered. Here’s how it works:

Look for the Click & Collect icon in the item listing.
At checkout, select Click & Collect as your delivery option and choose the store you’d like to collect your item from. Then pay for your item as usual.
When your item’s ready, we’ll send you collection instructions by email or text.
Go to the store or location you selected and collect your item.

CHANGING YOUR DELIVERY ADDRESS

When you’re buying an item, eBay will pre-populate your preferred delivery address in the order summary, which you’ll see just before checkout. Make sure this is where you want your item to be sent before completing your purchase. If you want to make a change, select a different address in the ‘Post to’ field on the checkout page. If the address you want your item delivered to isn’t shown, select Add a new address and complete the required details.

You can also change your preferred delivery address in the Addresses section of My eBay. From there you can also add new addresses or delete old ones. If you’ve already completed your purchase but need to make a change, Contact Us as soon as possible so we are able to make the necessary adjustments.

RETURN

To start a return, select the item you want to send back from your recent purchases above, or follow these steps:

Find the item in your Purchase history and select Return this item.
Select your reason for the return.
If the item arrived damaged, broken or faulty, you have the option to add up to 10 pictures showing any scratches or defects.
Select Send.
Alternatively, fill out the form below and send through all relevant information so we can organise the best course of action to resolve the case.

Send the item back
When Power Products Direct accepts your return, you’ll receive an email to your eBay Messages with the subject “Send the item back”. You’ll need to post it within 5 business days, using tracked delivery. Who covers the postage costs depends on why you’re returning it. Find more information about return postage.

ITEM/S RETURNED FOR A REFUND & REFUND APPROVED?

Once we receive the item back from you or agreed to refund you and let you keep the item, PPD has 6 business days to issue your refund. When we do, you’ll receive an email letting you know.

It usually takes 3 to 5 business days for a PayPal refund to go through. If you paid with a credit card, it may take up to 30 days to process, depending on your card provider. If you have used another payment method, the time for return will be determined at first response from Power Products Direct.

CANCELLING A RETURN REQUEST?

If you’ve changed your mind about a case you’ve opened, and no longer want to return your item, it’s easy to cancel your request.

To cancel a Return request:

Go to your Purchase history and find the item.
Select See request details in the More actions drop-down menu.
Select Close your request and choose your reason from the drop-down menu.
It’s important to make sure you’re certain you want to cancel a request, as you won’t be able to re-open a case once it’s been closed.
