Crinum lilies (crinum app.) belong in the family Amaryllidaceae. These plants are well adapted for outdoor growth within United States hardiness zones 8 through 11. The lily grows from bulbs that can weigh more than 40 lbs. Crinum works well in the landscape as flowering specimens, mass plantings, accents or understory planting. Even novice gardeners should have few problems growing this hardy lily.

crinum lilies range in height from 3-4 feet depending on the cultivar. Mine is about 4'. Foliage has and upright habit and emerges from the lily 's center rosette. Flowers is pale pink in bell shape, bloom from spring through late summer.


The large lily tolerates growing in Full Sun, part shade. its moderate drought tolerance make it suitable for anywhere hot dry or even down south near the coast where it's hot and humid. Crinum lilies are adaptable to a wide range of soil. Grow in clay, sandy, loamy soil also it tolerates both acidic and alkaline conditions. Periodic periods of extended flooding do not bother them. It's moderate tolerance to salty conditions makes it adaptable to coastal plantings.
