Peter Hurd (1904 - 1984): Born in New Mexico, Hurd was a well respected landscape painter who garnered significant acclaim for his capturing of light and detail. After selling a painting to a supervisor while at West Point Military Academy he became more interested in being an artist rather than pursuing a career in the military. He went on to study at the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts and studied under N.C. Wyeth, whose daughter he married, Henriette. Hurd has done works for post office and Life Magazine, he belonged to the National Academy of Design too. Today his paintings are displayed in prestigious collections across the Untied States, including: The Pentagon, Smithsonian and National Portrait Gallery, where they are enjoyed by critics and collectors alike.
