A charming well preserved and rare antique door knocker of Scottish interest and dated to 1911.

This knocker is in particularly well preserved condition.  Made of brass the knocker has been gilded gold and lacquered.  These original coatings are nearly completely intact and the surfaces have maintained a nice gleam.  The knocker is of Scottish literature interest and features the meeting of Robert Burns with Sir Walter Scott.  The main tableau illustrates this meeting and is surmounted by a coat of arms featuring two unicorns and a central lion rampant.  Below this tableau Edinburgh castle is detailed and below this and on the face of the actual knocker Burns and Scott appear.  On raising the knocker the backplate is exposed inscribed with the above quotation.  The knocker has two screw holes to surface mount on a door and two new 1" solid brass dome headed screw are supplied with the item.

Condition:  The knocker is in good to very good antique condition.  It is clean with a nice gleam to the surfaces.  There are very minor anticipated surface marks and minor small tarnishes to rebated areas.  We actively encourage buyers to review the images that do constitute part of the description.  As with most used antique / vintage items there are some surface marks relating to age and past use.

 Weight: 123g's.

Dimensions:  The knocker measures 12.5cm x 5.5cm .

A handsome and  useful antique door knocker that will add grace to the appropriate setting.
