Replica Apocalypse Now 1st of the 9th Air Cavalry Cross Sabres 1st Air Cav x 1

Metal cavalry branch of service for the 1st of the 9th. This badge has the cross sabres and the number 9 above and number 1 below.

This badge style was on the front of the cavalry slouch hat worn by Lt Colonel Bill Kilgore in the film Apocalypse Now film.

In the film for some reason he can be seen wearing two versions of Air Cav hat one with large cross sabres on the front with no unit numbers and the other hat has this smaller size cross sabres with the unit numbers of the 1st of the 9th. The small cross sabres was pinned to the front of the hat below the Lt. Colonel rank badge.

The 1st of the 9th (1-9th Cav) is the 1st Squadron of the 9th Cavalry Regiment of the 1st Cavalry Division.

The 1-9th Air Cav nickname is the "Headhunters".

One badge is enough for your air cav hat but you will need two badges if you want to wear them on the collars of your A class dress tunic uniform.
