SERVICE & SAVE YOUR HYDRAGAS SPHERES AND PUT THE HYDRAGAS COMFORT BACK INTO YOUR MGF Std /Trophy, METRO, ROVER 100.

- EVEN NEW OLD STOCK HAVE LOST PRESSURE BY NOW -

If you need much more than 370 Psi static fluid pressure to get 368 mm Centre Wheel to Arch then you have lost about 1/3 of the Nitrogen Charge. If you need any more than 400 Psi to achieve the ride height and your Displacers have not been re-charged with Nitrogen then your displacer diaphragms are at significant risk of rupture.

I can refill The Nitrogen side of your Displacer / Suspension Sphere and return it to original specification and performance.

RE-FILLING THROUGH THE ORIGINAL DUNLOP FILL HOLE & SEAL RIVET - NO WELDING - NO SCHRADER VALVES - NO DRILLING LARGE HOLES IN THE DISPLACER - NO LEAKS!!

Please Read Carefully: I am not selling new or refurbished parts. This listing is for a re-pressurising service to the Nitrogen side of YOUR DISPLACER UNITS with the correct pressure, protecting the internal diaphragm from unnecessary failure.

You send me your “good” fluid tight displacer and I will :

  • Measure existing  Nitrogen pressure on a purpose designed and calibrated Pressure Verification Test Rig WITHOUT DRILLING INTO IT. This will indicate if the Internal Nitrogen to Fluid diaphragm has already been compromised, rendering the displacer scrap.

  • Displacer Unit will be lightly cleaned, jigged up, and a 2mm hole drilled and taper tapped into the original seal rivet.

  • Load into a gas re-charge machine, fully evacuated to remove any old nitrogen or air, and while at 16.55 Bar pressure an automated process inserts a 3 Stage Taper Locking Screw and Seal into the original seal rivet - sealing the gas inside  Ref. Last Picture  -  1 Hole - 3  Stage Seal

  • The Unit is then fully tested at 500psi FOR 48HRS on the Pressure Verification Test Rig to ensure unit is Gas and Fluid leak tight

  • The final stage is to add an anti-tamper & corrosion seal and return the displacer or painted are required before return

ADVANTAGES OF THIS PROCESS:

  • Virtually identical to the Original Dunlop Filling Process through the original hole / seal

  • No additional large holes to compromise the mechanical integrity of the displacer

  • No welding  = ZERO Risk of Heat Damaging / Weakening the Internal Diaphragms

  • Very Discrete Process. No Offensive Schrader’s projecting from the Displacer –  As close to Original as you can get - therefore easy to fit back to vehicle

  • Cost effective, robust and reliable process

  • Fit and forget as per original design.  (BUT CAN BE CHECKED AND RE-GASSED IF REQUIRED IN YEARS TO COME ON AN RTB BASIS)

HOW & WHY?

I am a mechanical design Engineer with over 30 years industrial experience in the Gas Meter, Compressed Gas, Refrigeration, Automotive sectors, designing and manufacturing “Sealed For Life” Gas Envelopes, including, many years ago, working with the OEM’s to Dunlop that supplied the original manufacturing / test equipment. I also happen to be an MGF enthusiast.

Over the past 5 years I now refilled HUNDREDS OF SETS of Hydragas Units for fellow MGF / METRO enthusiasts .

Q&A --Why does the Gas Diaphragm fail as the unit loses gas pressure?

See pictures 6 and 7 showing the original seal rivet and how the diaphragm eventually gets so close to what is effectively a pair of pins. They eventually puncture the diaphragm. Pic 8 = Gas side full of fluid - Unit Scrapped.

Contact me for easy test to see if your diaphragms have been compromised. N.B. Does require the units to be removed from the car.

IF YOU WANT THEM:- PAINTED IN BLACK OR GOLD, A SERVICE EXCHANGE SET, PRE CHARGED WITH FLUID ON RETURN, MODIFIED FOR TRACK USE , FLUID LEAKS RECRIMPED -- CONTACT ME
