WATERCOLOUR  





Landscape painter. Born 16 September 1850 in London, son and pupil of the marine painter William Joseph Rivers. Exhibited at the R.I. and R.B.A. from 1873 (member 1890); the R.A. 1878–1904. Died in London 30 August 1905.

VERY FINELY PAINTED WATERCOLOUR SIGNED 'L. RIVERS', LOWER RIGHT. ORIGINAL PERIOD GILT MOUNT & FRAME. BEARS DEALER/FRAMER LABEL FOR 'SADLERS LTD' OF HANLEY.

Painting generally in very good condition. Some fading & slight, pale, even discolouration to paper. A couple of tiny marks. White lines to images are camera reflections in the glass & not damage. Gilt slip in excellent condition. Swept, gilt frame with a chips to moulding & re-gilding.
