This is a lavishly illustrated 334 page book about the one anna lithographed stamp of India. The Author, Gautam Rohatgi is a lifelong philatelist and has spent many years researching this classic Indian stamp. The result is his account of his adventures with the stamp. Thus it contains a few poems and anecdotes as well as the erudite philatelic writing that would be expected. The chapter headings will give an idea of the breadth of the subject matter. The book records most of what was previously known about the stamp and also contains the Author's personal research, most notably in the subject of sub-stones and also dealing with the postal use of the stamp which gives much information about the postal history of the period when this stamp was in use. PLEASE NOTE. The price is for a perfect copy. I also have a copy in brand new condition but parts of pages 122-3 have been printed double, giving an impression of shading around the lettering. It is completely legible, but obviously imperfect. The remaining 332 pages of the book are fine. I can accept an offer of £25 for the slightly defective copy, including postage to UK addresses.
