Gabriel Sánchez Toledo was born in Cabaiguán, Cuba, on August 17, 1979. He studied painting at the Samuel Feijoo art school in the province of Villa Clara, graduated in June 2001. In that same year he obtained the academic award from the Higher Institute of Art and from the San Alejandro Academy in Havana, Cuba. Since graduation Gabriel has opted for the manifestation of painting. In the context of young Cuban art Gabriel is known for his conceptual and formal reinterpretations of a genre of traditional painting such as landscape; Hence, it is one of the fundamental exponents in terms of updating and renovating this theme in the Cuban visual arts.

Gabriel Sánchez Toledo nació en Cabaiguán, Cuba, el 17 de agosto de 1979. Estudió pintura en la escuela de arte Samuel Feijoo en la provincia de Villa Clara, graduado en junio de 2001. En ese mismo año obtiene el premio académico del Instituto Superior de Arte y de la Academia San Alejandro en La Habana, Cuba. Desde su graduación Gabriel ha apostado por la manifestación de la pintura. En el contexto del arte joven cubano Gabriel es conocido por sus reinterpretaciones de índole conceptual y formal sobre un género de la pintura tradicional como lo es el paisaje; de ahí que se uno de los exponentes fundamentales en cuanto a actualización y renovación de esta temática en las artes visuales cubanas.
