For sale: Felix Weingartner: Symphony No. 2 and Das Gefilde der Seligen op. 21 by Marko Letonja and The Sinfonieorchester Basel.

Felix Weingartner was famous as conductor as well as a composer.  His conducting of Beethoven and Brahms is legendary.  He was the first conductor to make commercial recordings of all 9 Beethoven symphonies and the second to record a complete Brahms symphony cycle.  As a composer his style was influenced by Richard Strauss, Gustav Mahler and others.  

Marko Letonja, Sinfonieorchester Basel  and CPO have produced the definitive cycle of high quality modern recordings of Weingartner's symphonies.  The 2nd symphony is a standout in Weingartner's symphonic cycle.

This Hybrid SACD can be played on SACD compatible and standard CD players.
