A Pretty French Cast Ormolu Art Nouveau Wall Light.
C.1930.

A delightful original cast art nouveau wall lamp from the early 20th C.

An original refurbished French wall lamp.  The lamp is mounted on a solid rectangular shaped mahogany backplate.  This is waxed and has been drilled to accept the electric wiring.  Two screws to attach to the wall through counter sunk holes.  The mahogany plate has two drill holes for the lamps attachment by way of two new domed 4 x 1/2" solid brass screws.  The lamp is finished in ormolu and are clean and bright.  They are highly decorative with scrolling and plumes.  The U shaped arm is bolted onto the backplate and supports the heavily pierced circular candle sconce.  The looped and ribbed tubular arm is undermounted with leaves arm teminates in a brass sconce.  Three small brass bolts secure the frosted glass shade.  The shade is decorated with columns of high relief domes and finishes with a frilled rim.   A new bayonet light fitting screws onto a central threading.  The original wiring has been replaced with new three core micro chandelier cable.  The wiring passes from the bayonet through the tubular arm and out through the backplate.  A long tail has been left to suit individuals wiring needs.  This is finished with a standard three core cable block.  The lamps are earthed at the bayonet.  The wall lights are completed with one new 5.8W (equivalent 40W) B22 LED round bulb in warm white light.  This has only been lit for the purposes of taking images and are supplied in their original packaging.  Alternative bulbs including flicker candle bulbs are readily available from other eBay sellers if preferred.
 

Dimensions: The mahogany backplate measure; 24cm x 9cm x 2cm.  The whole assembly projects approximately 32cm from the wall surface.  The glass shade has a diameter of 16cm.

Condition: In good used and refurbished condition.  The lamp has been rewired with three core  chandelier micro cable.  The lamp has been fitted with new earthed B22 brass bayonet holder.  The ormolu is clean and bright with some minor tarnish elements to rebates and surface marks commensurate with age and use.  The glass shade is clean and bright with only a few very minor chips to the mounting rim, hidden by the brass sconce.  The threadings and fixtants are clean and function as intended to allow easy dissasembly for cleaning etc.  The mahogany has been cleaned resealed and waxed.  The lamp come with two new 8 x 50mm steel screws and appropriate raw plugs.   As with all antique/vintage electrical appliances the lamp should be inspected / PAT tested by a qualified electrician.  Naturally there are minor age and use related surface marks.  We encourage potential buyers to make use of the images to satisfy themselves of condition and encourage any enquiries.

We accept paypal payments. We also accept cheques but they must be cleared before any items will be sent. Buyers are also welcome to pick up items in which case we would accept cash.

Shipping

We do our best to ensure that all items are well packaged to ensure their safe arrival. In the event of rough postal handling and subsequent damage please contact us to allow us to resolve the problem. It is the buyers responsibility to check that the parcel is undamaged before signing for it Due to problems with items going missing, all items will be sent recorded, heavier items will be sent by Parcel Force 48 which requires a signature on delivery.This will be reflected in the postage costs, if you are not happy with the cost of postage then please do not place a bid. If you have any additional packaging or postal requirements we are always happy to accomodate. If you need an item particularly quickly e.g for a birthday present then please let us know straight away and we will dispatch as a priority. We will happily combine postage on multiple purchases. We are also happy for buyers to pick up items with cash on collection. International buyers must contact for postal rates prior to bidding. Some items may be automatically be excluded due to weight, fragility etc. All items sent abroad will be sent 'signed for' which will add to the postage cost. We always ensure that delicate items are packed carefully and thoroughly to ensure a safe journey, we use new,professional packaging materials bought specifically for the job. We do not aim to make any money out of postal charges, we charge just enough to cover the costs of sending items. Our main priority is that items arrive undamaged. Please bear in mind when leaving feedback that postal prices have recently increased considerably and that delicate items need a huge amount of packaging materials to ensure a safe arrival. Please also bear in mind that postage costs do not simply cover the cost of the stamp, they cover the cost of quality materials, time and petrol to get items to the post office. IF YOU ARE NOT HAPPY WITH THE POSTAGE COSTS PLEASE DO NOT PLACE A BID.

Terms of Sale

We do not accept bids from ebayers with a positive feedback of less than 25. If you would like to place a bid but you have a low feedback score then please contact us first We accept that occasionally a buyer might feel dissatisfied with a purchase and in that instance we would ask that you contact us directly and we will do our best to resolve any problems. This includes returns, for reasonable reasons, which we accept with the buyer paying for return postage.
