EDITIONED 43/75

Born in 1938 in Bologna-Billancourt, Joan Gardy Artigas joined the École du Louvre and the School of Fine Arts of Paris. A native of Catalonia, he developed his own style through his contact with Parisian artistic life. He opened his ceramic workshop in Paris. This city allowed him, to meet many artists such as Giacometti, Braque and Chagall.

In the 50s, his father Josep Llorens Artigas, a friend of Pablo Picasso, worked with Joan Miro creating ceramics. Josep's age prevented him from continuing this work, thus Miro called on Joan to replace his father and worked with him for over twenty years.
