Relativitatstheorie in Mathematischer Behandlung, A.S. Eddington, Mit Einem Anhang Eddingtons Theorie Und Hamiltonsches Prinzip von Albert Einstein, Verlag Von Julius Springer, Berlin, 1925, 277 pages plus appendix, cloth, 8vo.

In poor condition. Ex-library of Burndy Library, a public library in Cambridge, Massachusetts. The library is one of the world’s largest collections of books on the history of science and technology. Cloth is severely soiled and has sadly been afflicted with water damage resulting in old mold damage. Textblock is unmarked and relatively untouched by mold, but rippling is present. Gutter is shaken. The information inside is what makes this book truly valuable. It is still a readable copy. Please do not hesitate to reach out to us if you have any questions or concerns. Please see photos.

Appendix is by Albert Einstein early in his career. At this point in his career he had already received the 1921 Nobel Prize for Physics “for his services to theoretical physics, and especially for his discovery of the law of photoelectric effect”, a pivotal step in the development of quantum theory. Einstein was still living in Berlin while this was published. He fled Germany, as many of you already know, when Adolf Hitler came to power in 1933 to escape being executed. Perfect for a lover of mathematical history and early Einstein mathematics. RAREE1925AJKA.
