The company was incorporated under the laws of New York in 1924.

Russian Reconstruction Farms, Inc. was formed to address the growing famine in Russia. Dozens of United States citizens with a background in farming (or not) packed six months' worth of supplies up and moved to Russia. There, they set up a demonstration farm school, where famine prevention was to be taught, and an agricultural service center, where a machine shop would ensure that farm equipment remained in good condition for efficient production. In 1954 the company was cited as a communist Enterprise during the House Committee hearings on Un-American activities.
