Set of Three 1970s & 1980s British GB Pound Sterling Bank Notes (£20, £10 & £5)


Very nice and crisp note. Not uncirculated but without any rips or damage and in good order. All signed by either Chris Salmon & John Page Chief Cashiers of the Bank of England in the 1970s & 1980s.

John Brangwyn Page (died 2 February 2005) was a British banking executive who served as the Chief Cashier of the Bank of England from 1970 to 1980. The signature of the Chief Cashier appears on British banknotes. Page was replaced as Chief Cashier by David Somerset. While at the bank, Page advised on the financing of the Channel Tunnel.


Chris Salmon was the Bank of England's Executive Director for Markets from June 2014 to 2018. He was responsible for all Bank operations in financial markets; management of the Bank’s balance sheet and the UK's official foreign exchange reserves on behalf of HMT; and delivering market intelligence for monetary and financial stability.


Chris had worked at the Bank for over twenty years, previous positions include: Executive Director, Banking & Chief Cashier (2011 – 2014) and Private Secretary to then Governor, Sir Mervyn King (2006-2009).


Chris studied undergraduate Economics at Bristol University and postgraduate Econometrics and Mathematical Economics at LSE.
