For sale is a rare and perfectly exquisite vellum bound Publii Terentii Carthaginiensis Afri Comoediae Sex. Published 1837, and the text in Latin. Collated as complete.

The binding, of full original vellum, is adorned with sumptuous gilt tooling, to the boards and spine. The titles in gilt to Morocco labels. Original hand-marbled endpapers.

Externally the binding remains in excellent order; the hinges are firm and intact and it sits square on the shelf. There is surface marking in places, but this is to be expected with such a binding.

Internally, it is delightfully clean and fresh, and importantly, complete. The spotting is somewhat heavier to the leaves towards the beginning and end of the text.

Overall, this is not only a rare text, but the binding itself is a work of the bookbinder’s art. It is both elegant and handsome, and it could not come more highly recommended.
