This exact. watch was made on a government order and gifted to a prominent Ukrainian scientist (Valentyna Sergiivna Steshenko) on behalf of the Kiev (Ukraine) government administration. This wristwatch is manufactured most likely at the Arsenal-Luch enterprise (Ukrainian-Belarusian enterprise) at least partially. Perhaps the Kiev watch plant "Тіме"(«Час») was still related to the production. Manufactured and gifted in 2001-2004. Was in use some time by this saintist. I bought it (end of July 2020)from son (Piskunov Yaroslav) of Valentina Steshko.

Valentyna Sergiivna Steshenko (1934, Kharkiv — 2014, Kyiv) is an outstanding Ukrainian demography scientist, founder of Ukrainian demography, organizer of science; Doctor of Economics, Professor.

Biography:

Valentyna Steshenko started her path in science as a postgraduate student of academician Mykhailo Ptukha, who gave her student ideas, worldview and traditions of young Ukrainian science, which were laid down in the early twentieth century. and largely destroyed during the Stalinist terror of the 1930s. One of the few Ukrainian demographers of the older generation who survived was Yuriy Korchak-Chepurkivsky, with whom Valentina Steshenko was friends.

Most of her scientific life Valentyna Serhiivna worked as the Head of the Department of Demography and Economics of Population Reproduction of the Institute of Economics of the Academy of Sciences of Ukraine. During the life of Valentyna Steshenko, her department became the main scientific institute of all Ukrainian demography. Steshenko managed to manage the conduct of fundamental scientific research, write articles and monographs, publish scientific journals; studied several generations of postgraduate students and practitioners; supported scientific contacts with colleagues all over the world.
