Very large unusual antique copper engraved map of Oceania and south Pacific, by Alexandre Aimé Vuillemin (1812-1886).


The map is very decorative, with 14 vignettes handed colored all around, depicting typical scenes of the main countries. 

These illustrations are drawn by Testard and engraved by Guesnu.

The map is engraved by Gérin and Langevin.

It extends from Mongolia, Japan, Philippines to California.

The different colors of the countries correspond to the different colonies at the time: English, Dutch, Spanish, French, Portuguese and native colonies. 

On the map, some annotations relating the history and the date of discovery of the countries.
