An original 17th Century oak box with finely and deeply carved front. The box has the original lock plate which is beautifully patternated. The box dates to 1670-80.
The box is sloped and the lid opens freely. The iron straps are in good order and no restoration has taken place. The interior of the box is spacious and would certainly be very useful for workstation storage.
There are some small knocks and cracks as expected of its considerable age and there is a small amount of edging missing on the right hand side of the lid. Please see pictures for details.
