Rare original tipped-in halftone print dating from 1905 by British pictorialist Reginald Craigie 1859-1930. This image titled "Stusy in Tones" is Plate GB.XXI from the Special Summer Number of The Studio 1905 titled "Art in Photography with Selected Examples of European and American Work" the British companion to "Camera Work", the highly influential American photo secessionist magazine published by Alfred Stieglitz.

This high quality collectible halftone print measures 15.5 x 9.5 cms on a sheet  21 x 29 cms and is mounted on beige medium weight slightly textured wove paper. Minor foxing on mount.

Every image is delivered in an archival sleeve and hardback envelope.

Reginald Walpole Craigie 1859-1930 clerk at the Bank of England, Craigie’s chief interest in photography lay in portraiture at which he excelled. His work is characterised by the purity and delicacy of his tones. He was elected a fellow of the RPS in 1895 and a council member in 1898. As a member of the Linked Ring on its disbandment he joined the group who formed the London Salon and became its secretary. His first short lived marriage to the famous Anglo-American novelist Pearl Craigie 1867-1906 ended in divorce on the grounds of his violence and adultery.
