How Can Harrogate Sulphur Soap Help Relieve Acne?

Sulphur Soap is not a medical treatment for acne – but can provide relief from its symptoms and used in conjunction with medical treatment can be of real benefit to sufferers.
Acne is caused by bacteria that feed on build ups of dead skin cell and oil when your skin glands are overproducing oil. Sulphur Soap cannot stop this process from happening. However, medical advice recommends that you softly and frequently wash infected areas to continually remove the build up of dead cells and oils that lie behind the disease. Some soaps, however, are more beneficial than others – and the power of Sulphur has been known since Roman times, when the first spa was established at Harrogate.
Sulphur is known scientifically as a keratolytic agent. In plain english, this means it encourages your skin to shed dead cells. HARROGATE

In the heart of the northern English countryside Harrogate is probably better known as a tourist centre and a base for those visiting the Yorkshire Dales, an area of unsurpassed outstanding natural beauty and cultural significance.
Harrogate's rich Spa heritage dates back to 1571 with the discovery of no less than 88 mineral springs, more than anywhere in Europe, Harrogate then achieved Spa status. In 1792 Thomas Garnett MD pronounced,
    "Harrogate Sulphur Water has a deservedly great reputation with the water from the springs affording therapeutic properties."
 
Harrogate’s 88 springs all have a different chemical composition.
Today the town is synonymous with elegance, quality of life and refinement, mainly due to the historical frequent visits of celebrities, politicians and European royalty, who visited the famous spa to bathe in the sulphur springs.
In the 19th century local pharmacists made their own soap in Harrogate, so effective because of the high mineral content of the spring waters. These waters became famous throughout Europe and it was the Sulphur Well known as the 'Stinking Well' renowned for its therapeutic properties. Harrogate Sulphur Soap products are a direct descendant of this memorable historical period.
