Nice antique lithographic view of PETRA (Jordan), from a painting of the famous orientalist artist David Roberts (1796-1864), a friend of the painter Turner.

The painting is titled and dated by the artist in the painting "Approach to Petra. An ancient Watchtower Commanding the Valley of El-Ghor Feb 5th 1839" .


First Edition, very rare, published in London by Francis Graham Moon, from 1841 to 1849, in 6 volumes limited to 500 copies. 


The plate is dated at the bottom in the margin "London Pub by F.G. Moon 20 Theadneedle St Aug 18st 1842". 


Condition : very good condition, in bistre color, handed colored, on strong paper.
