Ford Model T also known as the Tin Lizzie, was a car manufactured by the Ford Motor Company from 1908 to 1927. It was the first car in the world to be produced in millions. Henry Ford, according to many, "put America on wheels", making the new car relatively affordable for the middle-class American [source not specified 397 days]. This has been made possible by innovations such as the use of a conveyor instead of individual manual assembly and a reasonable, without compromising quality, simplification of the car's design, which has reduced costs. The first Model T was built on September 27, 1908 at the Pickett plant in Detroit, Michigan.

Contrary to popular belief, the design of the Model T, being perfectly adapted to the mass production technologies of its time, was neither simplified nor in any way degraded compared to other cars of those years - its features that today seem "simplified", like a thermosyphon system cooling without a water pump or lubrication of all engine components by spraying, in those years were in progress and on much more expensive brands, and were even considered progressive, as the development of automotive technology in the 1910s - 1920s largely followed the path of eliminating unnecessary, excessive complication of the structure, characteristic of the previous era.

In terms of technical characteristics, comfort and equipment, the Ford T is also not inferior to most cars of its time, surpassed many of them in reliability and durability, and in size and volume of the engine corresponded to modern middle-class models, and, unlike the massive European minivans, was created as a full-fledged family vehicle for a country with long distances and bad roads, adapted for long trips and with the appropriate space, comfort and durability [source not specified 397 days]. It is to this set of technical, operational and consumer qualities, and not just low cost and aggressive marketing, that the Model T owes its global success.

The car was equipped with a four-cylinder engine with a displacement of 2.9 liters (2893 cm) and a two-speed planetary gearbox. In the design of the car were used such design and technological innovations as a solid block crankcase, a separate cylinder head and pedal shifting planetary gearbox.

When the Model T appeared, most cars in the United States in 1908-10 cost between $ 1,100 and $ 1,700. The starting price for the Ford T was $ 825-850 - almost a third less than the cheapest car of other companies - with an average annual income in the United States in 1910 of $ 574, or about $ 48 per month [Note . 1].
