Title: Large Specimen of Malachite & Chrysocolla, Vide-Poche.
Origin: Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC, Zaire).

Description: Offered is a natural free-form Congolese Malachite and Chrysocolla specimen with an interior basin. This piece is bursting all over with marvelous color and patterning, characteristic of the copper carbonate mineral, in all shades of green-to a rich almost-black Malachite and blue-green Chrysocolla (Turquoise color). Atop, the piece features a deep highly polished concave center accented by a tumbled surface surround, naturally unfinished sides and bottom with felt pads. The swirling and concentric patterns of this gem stone are unusual and quite rare due the following characteristics: shows an (1) unusual crystal habit, (2) distinctive patterns, (3) subtle chatoyancy (visible within basin).

Carat:  40,824 ct.

Provenance: Item acquired from a northern California estate, world travelers. The item was procured in Zaire, now known as the DRC, during the early reign of Mobutu Sese Seko (1965-1997).
