Twin and Earth Electrical Cable use for Electrical Installation Wiring

Twin and Earth Cable available in different sizes in various lengths.

Twin and Earth Electrical Cable is the most common cable used for domestic wiring.  

This cable has met all the industry and governmental safety guidelines and standards for cables, including the BS 6004:2012 standard.  It is BASEC Approved, UKAS Certified and CE Marked.


Cable Construction

The live and neutral are individually insulated and the earth is bare.  The Live and Neutral are insulated in blue/brown coloured PVC insulation.  The overall bundle of wires is insulated in a grey PVC outer casing.  The 1.0mm, 1.5mm & 2.5mm cables have a solid cable construction whilst all cables above 4.0mm are constructed of stranded copper conductive wires.

Common Cable Uses

1.0mm Twin & Earth is commonly used for lighting, external door bells and light switches.

1.5mm Twin & Earth is commonly used for lighting, external door bells and light switches.

2.5mm Twin & Earth is commonly used for ring main sockets, radial sockets, immersion heaters, boilers and plugs.

4.0mm Twin & Earth is commonly used for high powered ring circuits and ovens.

6.0, 10.0 & 16.0mm Twin & Earth is commonly used for high powered electrical circuits such as electric showers, electric hob cookers etc.
