Por primera vez en su historia Palmeiras "la eterna academia", de San Pablo, Brasil, se coronó Campeón de la Copa Toyota Libertadores de América, tras vencer en el partido de vuelta de la final a Deportivo Cali, de Colombia, por definición por penales de un partido de leyenda.
