Dimensions:

Image size approximately: 24-1/2”H, 48-1/2”W

Description:

“South of the Pond” by Charles Basham (b-1953). Pastel on grey paper.

.

Known for his rural landscapes. This is a FABULOUS statement piece.

Authenticated by the artist through his agent The Jerald Melberg Gallery in Charlotte, N. C.

Even though the Gallery has been Mr. Basham’s agent for decades, this work was unknown to them until we began researching it.

We’ve owned it for about 20 years.

Per Mr. Basham, through his agent, he created and sold the work privately well before the gallery was his agent. We acquired it from an estate in South Beach, Florida.

Copies of the emails regarding all this will be provided to the new owner of this fine work.

Mr. Basham is a world-renowned artist whose works are in many museums,

corporate and private collections.

Charles Basham received his B.F.A. and M.F.A. from Kent State University in his native state of Ohio, where he still resides on the family farm where he grew up.

He has been making art for over thirty years focusing primarily on landscapes.
Throughout his career, Basham has become more and more attuned to the subtle changes in weather and atmosphere.

In his pastels and oil paintings, he strives with each one for energy, impact of light, harmonized color with saturation, and temperature pushed and raised beyond previous limits.
In doing so, he intends to capture dramatic and compelling moments of morning and evening light over the farmlands of the Midwest and the marshes and beaches.
