For sale is a vinyl record by Harry Chapin titled "Heads & Tales, originally released in 1972 on Elektra Records with a gate-fold presentation. Inside the front part of the gate-fold has a die-cut window that holds a special full color lyric folio. It measures 12" X 36" with a two-fold reversible lyric/poster sheet. In the dead wax between the labels and the last tracks is etched an upper case "CP" along with "Sterling", followed by the matrix numbers A-1/B-1, indicating that the record was mastered at Sterling Sound of New York City, New York before the first stampers were used to make this album at Columbia Records' pressing plant, located in Pitman, New Jersey. These are hallmarks of state-of-the-art engineering, sought after by collectors and music lovers for their superior sound quality. I bought this record used, professionally cleaned it on my VPI HW-17 machine and immediately put it into an archival inner sleeve. This preserves the vinyl and any original inner sleeve. The inner sleeve is graded as Near Mint. The lyric/poster sheet is Near Mint. The cover is graded as Excellent because of ring wear, corner blunts and a drill hole through the top right hand corner. The spine has color loss at the corners from blunts and along the edges from rubs. The vinyl is visually graded as Excellent because of superficial sleeve marks, but with surfaces that are still shiny and bright, without any surface scratches, scuffs, smudges or spindle marks on the labels. I'm play grading it as Very Good Plus because of occasional surface noise and ticking that is more noticeable during the quietest sections of playback but not over powering the music. It plays all the way through without any skips, lock-ups or pops from start to finish. I have more Folk albums, as well as records of all genres, listed in my Ebay store. Please take a look. They're predominately Near Mint. Thank you for viewing my listing.
I've been collecting records for about 50 years now and have always cleaned them and put them away carefully in plastic inner sleeves. Over the years I've used Dust Bugs, Disc Washers and have finally invested in a professional VPI record cleaning machine. Now that I'm retiring, I'm selling my very esoteric collection. I'm not a professional grader of records, but will use record guides, as well as my personal experiences as a basis of my grading all records. Since grading is subjective, I will be conservative. I offer discounts for multiple sales. Photos are of the actual item for sale, not a stock photo. Please review all descriptions and photos because I do not accept returns. Thank you for looking!
