About Greater Celandine Herb (Chelidonium Majus):
Greater celandine belongs to the poppy family while the lesser celandine belongs to the buttercup family. Genus name comes from the Greek word chelidon meaning a swallow as it flowered when the swallows arrived. Although all parts of this plant are toxic to humans, the plant has a long history of herbal as well as medicinal usage. It was once supposed to be an effective remedy for wart removal, resulting in the acquisition of common names such as wartweed and swallowwart.

Medicinal use of greater celandine also dates back to Ancient Greece, where the physician and botanist Dioscorides first described its detox potential. From Pliny the Elder (a famous Roman naturalist) to modern herbalists such as Maurice Mességué, traditional remedies with greater celandine have a rich history.

Above-ground parts of greater celandine (Chelidonium majus) have the broadest medical use. The dried herb is used for solid and liquid extracts, while the juice and sap come from fresh stems and leaves. Some herbalists in Eastern and Central Europe also use the roots.

Celandine contains a group of alkaloids with a unique structure (isoquinoline) and diverse medicinal properties: Chelidonine, Coptisine, Sanguinarine, Chelerythrine, Berberine.

What does Greater Celandine Herb Tea taste like?
Celandine has an odd and unpleasant odor and a bitter, pungent taste.

How to use/consume loose dried Celandine Herb?
Tea:
2 teaspoons of herb to a cup of boiling water and leave to infuse for 10 minutes, strain. Drink hot 3 times daily for 3 week period.

Infusion:
2 teaspoons of the herb are poured with 300 ml. boiling water, leave to soak for 1 hour and strain. Drink 100 ml.  3 times a day.

Infusion Light:
1 teaspoon of herb soaked in 250 ml of boiling water for 1 hour. Drink 50 ml before meals. 3 times a day.

NOTE:
> TOXIC in overdose! A powerful herb!
> Overdose can cause drowsiness, skin irritation, disorder.
> Use only under medical supervision!
> Avoid contact with eyes. Direct contact may cause irritation to Mucuos membrane.
> Not recommended during pregnancy, breastfeeding and for children under 12.
> Avoid celandine if you are suffering from Diarrhea.
> Don't use greater celandine if you have liver disease.

Recommended daily dosage:
Dried herb: 1.2 – 3.6 g daily, as an infusion (tea)
